About

I am an associate professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University. Prior to joining the faculty at Kansas State, I was an Associate Research Fellow in the Poverty, Health and Nutrition Division at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). I received my PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

My research focuses on overlapping issues in international development, health, nutrition and rural poverty. Past projects include large-scale impact evaluations in Africa and the Middle East in collaboration with the World Food Programme, UNICEF, Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the World Bank.  My work has appeared in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Health Economics , and World Development, among others.

I am currently working with USAID’s Feed the Future Innovation Lab on technology adoption projects involving agricultural mechanization and postharvest storage. I also have an active program researching cannabis and hemp issues across the United States.
